Determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Micevski, 1995) as Polygonum persicaria L., Sp. Pl. 361 (1753). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (Uotila, 2017) is Persicaria maculosa Gray, Nat. Arr. Brit. Pl. 2: 269. 1821.
Lifeform: Annual; Therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native to Temperate Eurasia and North Africa according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Found in wet habitats- on the banks of rivers and other bodies of water.
Flowering period: Late summer- early fall (AUG, SEP).
