Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Webb in Tutin et al. (1964) and Micevski in Micevski (1998).
Lifeform: Perrenial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native to the Balkan Peninsula according to the distribution information provided by The Euro+Med Plantbase (Marhold, 2011+) and the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew). Balkan endemic found in Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia and Serbia.
Habitat: Dry and somewhat shaded positions on rocky substrate- river gorges, rocks and cliffs, on sunny exposures or somewhat shaded by the surrounding dendroflora, among moss and lichens.
Description: A caespitose evergreen perennial up to 10 (-15) cm high at anthesis, forming lax mats of up to 10 -15 cm in diameter. Stems numerous, simple (sometimes branched), develop from an underground tuberous rhizome. Tubers oblong, brownish, covered with scales. Flowering stems up to 10 to 15 cm long including the inflorescence, procumbent to erect. Sterile basal rosettes comparatively shorter, present at flowering (may develop at any time). Cauline leaves numerous, alternately arranged, almost linear in shape, slightly wider in the distal half (linear-oblancelate), obtuse with entire margin, 6 to 8 mm long x 1.1 to 1.4 mm wide, flattened, 0.6-0.8 mm thick. Basal leaves (leaves of non-flowering rosettes) shorted and wider, almost spathulate, densely arranged. Inflorescence a lax cyme. Flowers 5-merous: sepals, petals and carpels 5, stamens 10. Petals bright yellow, lanceolate, 2 to 2,5 times as long as calyx. Carpels erect, fruiting follicles patent.
