Teucrium capitatum L. (syn. Teucrium polium subsp. capitatum (L.) Arcangeli)

Taxonomy: Fam. Lamiaceae// Genus: Teucrium// Species: Teucrium capitatum L.

Determined according to the botanical keys provided in Flora Europaea (Tutin & Wood in Tutin et al., 1972) as Teucrium polium subsp. capitatum (L.) Arcangeli, loc. cit. (1882). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: World Checklist of Selected Plant Families, 2010) is Teucrium capitatum L.

Lifeform: Perrenial, hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiaer system.

Distribution: Native from the Mediterranean to West Asia, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Open and dry habitats – hill pastures, rocks and rocky terrains, river gorges. frequent species across the Osogovo region at lower altitudes and open habitats.

Flowering period: Summer to fall: JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP.
