Distribution: Native from Central Europe to the Mediterranean, Iran, North-Central China, Mongolia and West Siberia, according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Open habitats – grasslands, pastures, shrublands, rocky terrains.

Lifeform: Annual; therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Flowering period: Spring – early summer: MAY, JUN.
