Taxonomy: Fam. Poaceae// Genus: Stipa// Species: Stipa capillata L.

Determined according to the botanical key provided by Martinovský in Tutin et al. (1980) and Vukićević in Josifović (1976).

Distribution: Native to Europe to Siberia, North China and Himalaya according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Open and dry habitats – dry grasslands, pastures, rocky terrains, generally at lower altitudes in the zone of hill pastures.

Lifeform: Perrenial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Flowering period: Late spring – summer: MAY, JUN, JUL.
