Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Tutin (Graminae – key to genera) and Humphries (Taeniatherum Nevski) in Tutin et al. (1980).

Lifeform: Annual; therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from South Central Europe to the Mediterranean, East European Russia, Pakistan and Arabian Peninsula according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Dry grasslands, hill pastures, rocky terrains, bushlands and edges of oak forests.

Flowering period: Late spring – early summer (MAY, JUN).
