Taxonomy: Fam. Caryophyllaceae// Genus: Silene// Species: Silene waldsteinii Griseb.

Determined according to the botanical key provided by Micevski (1993).

Distribution: Native to the Balkan peninsula according to the distribution information provided by The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Marhold, 2011+) and the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Edges and clearings of European beech forests, pastures in the subalpine belt.

Lifeform: Perennial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Flowering period: Summer: JUN, JUL, AUG.
