Determined according to the botanical key by Fernandes (1976 in Tutin et al.) and the distinguishing traits for the Anthemis macedonica Group provided by Goula at al. (2022). According to the taxonomic concept accepted by The Euro+Med PlantBase (Greuter, 2006+), Anthemis macedonica Boiss. & Orph. is treated as a polymorphic species with 4 subspecies. According to the current concept, the populations on Osogovo belong to the autonym subspecies.

Lifeform: Annual (therophyte according to the Raunkiær system) or biennial plant.

Distribution: Native to the Balkan Peninsula according to The Euro+Med PlantBase (Greuter, 2006+) and the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Open and dry habitats – hill pastures, dry grassland, rocks and rocky terrains with shallow soil, river gorges.

Flowering period: Spring to summer (MAY, JUN, JUL).
