Taxonomy: Fam. Cyperaceae// Genus: Carex// Species: Carex hirta L.

Determined according to the botanical key provided in Flora Europaea Vol. 5 (Tutin et al., 1980).

Lifeform: Perrenial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Europe to Iran, Northwest Africa according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Found in wet habitats, near streams and rivers.

Flowering period: Spring (APR, MAY).
