Distribution: Native to Macaronesia, Mediterrranean, Europe to West Siberia according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Found in diverse habitats- grassland, rocky terrains, edges of forests, shrubland, disturbed ground, cultivated land, orchards, gardens, wasteland, roadsides, in and near settlements.
Flowering period: Main flowering period is spring. Flowering may start earlier in favorable conditions. (FEB-) MAR, APR, MAY.
