Lifeform: Perennial plant. Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system. In the Osogovo region, the species usually behaves as a semi-evergreen fern.

Distribution: Macaronesia, Mediterranean to Iran according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Garden, Kew).

Habitat:  Moist and shady places – along rivers in gorges of the south and south-west part of Osogovo (“Shtalkovichka” River and “Kochanska” River).
