Lifeform: Annual (therophyte according to the Raunkiær system) or biennial.

Distribution: Native to Temperate Eurasia to Myanmar and Indian subcontinent; Northwest Africa according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Pastures, clearings and edges of forests. Recorded from c. 500 up to 1600 m a.s.l.
