Taxonomy: Fam. Compositae// Genus: Echinops// Species: Echinops sphaerocephalus L.

Determined according to the botanical key provided in Flora Europaea Vol. 4 (Tutin et al., 1976).

Lifeform: Perrenial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Europe to Central Siberia, Xinjiang (China) and Arabian Peninsula according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Dry and open habitats- rocky terrains, dry grassland, hill pastures.

Flowering period: Late summer: AUG, SEP.
