Myosotis sylvatica subsp. cyanea (Hayek) Vestergr.

Determined according to the botanical key provided by Matevski and Melovski (2010 in Matevski).

Lifeform: Biennial plant. First year growth (vegetative stage) is characterized by basal rosette formation. Flowering occurs in the second year.

Distribution: Native from Southeast Europe to Transcaucasus according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Grasslands and pastures, clearings and edges of forests, along streams and rivers and other wet habitats in the zones of European beech forests and subalpine pastures. Common member of the hydrophilous (tall herb fringe) communities along streams and rivers in the upper part of Osogovo Mountain. Recorded from c. 750 up to 1950 m altitude on several localities: “Shtalkovichka” River, Ponikva, “Carev vrv” peak region.

Flowering period: Spring to early summer (APR, MAY, JUN).
