Distribution: Native from Europe to Siberia, Mongolia, China, Himalaya and India; Yemen; Africa- Morocco and Ethiopia according to distribution information provided by the Plants of The World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Clearings and edges of oak forests and European beech forests, grasslands and meadows, from c. 850 m up to the subalpine belt.
Flowering period: Summer: JUN, JUL.
