Doronicum austriacum Jacq.

Taxonomy: Fam. Compositae// Genus:  Doronicum // Species: Doronicum austriacum Jacq.

According to Ferguson (1976 in Tutin et al.), the lower leaves of D. austriacum are panduriform and amplexicaul. The population from Osogovo does not fit this description, as the lower cauline leaves are cordate and distinctly petiolate, the petiole distinctly auriculate, as described by Gajić (1975 in Josifović).

Lifeform: Perennial plant. Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from West, Central and South Europe to Ukraine and Turkey according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Edges and clearings of European beech forests.

Flowering period: Summer (JUN, JUL).
