Taxonomy: Fam. Poaceae// Genus: Sorghum// Species: Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers.

Lifeform: Perennial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to Macaronesia, North Africa to Chad, West Africa to Central Asia and Indo-China; introduced in parts of Europe, Asia and the Americas according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Disturbed ground – cultivated land, roadsides, in and near settlements and other ruderal areas.

Flowering period: Late summer to early fall: AUG, SEP.
