Lifeform: Annual; therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from South and East Europe to Asia and New Guinea, North Africa, parts of West and East Africa, South Africa, Madagascar according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Disturbed ground – cultivated land, roadsides, in and near settlements and other ruderal areas.

Flowering period: Late summer to early fall: AUG, SEP.
