Distribution: Native to Macaronesia, Europe to Mongolia, Northwest Africa according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Open habitats – grasslands/ pastures, rocky terrains.

Lifeform: Perennial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Flowering period: Spring: APR, MAY.
