Taxonomy: Fam. Cyperaceae// Genus: Eleocharis// Species: Eleocharis palustris (L.) R. Br..

Determined according to the botanical key provided by Walters in Tutin et al. (1980).

Lifeform: Perrenial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to the Temperate Northern Hemisphere – North America; North Africa; Europe to Russian far East, Japan, Himalaya, Yemen according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Ponds, stagnant water and other wet habitats – usually in shallow water.

Flowering period: Late spring – summer: MAY, JUN, JUL.
