Taxonomy: Fam. Polygonaceae// Genus: Persicaria// Species: Persicaria lapathifolia (L.) Delarbre.

Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Webb and Chater in Tutin et al. (1964) and Micevski (1995) as Polygonum lapathifolium L., Sp. Pl. 360 (1753). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Uotila, 2017+) is Persicaria lapathifolia (L.) Delarbre, Fl. Auvergne, ed. 2: 519. 1800.

Lifeform: Annual; therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to Subarctic and Temperate Northern Hemisphere (North America and Eurasia) to West and Central Malesia, North Africa to Ethiopia, North and East Australia according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Wet and damp habitats up to c. 1550 m altitude.

Flowering period:  Late summer -fall: AUG, SEP, OCT.
