Determined according to the botanical key provided by Chater (1980 in Tutin et al.) as Carex tomentosa L., Mantissa 123 (1767). The accepted name in The Euro+Med Plantbase (Jiménez-Mejías & Luceño, 2011+) is Carex filiformis L., Sp. Pl.: 976. 1753.

Lifeform: Perennial plant. Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Europe to Siberia, Mongolia according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Grasslands and clearings of forests. Recorded in the region of village of Pantelej.

Flowering period: Spring: APR.
