Genista pilosa L.

Taxonomy: Fam. Fabaceae// Genus: Genista // Species: Genista pilosa L.

Determined according to the botanical key provided by Gibbs (1968 in Tutin et al.).

Lifeform: Perennial, shrub. Nanophanerophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from West and Central to South and Southeast Europe according to the distribution information provided by The Euro+Med PlantBase (ILDIS World Database of Legumes, 2010); also native to the Crimean Peninsula according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Open habitats – subalpine pastures, rocky terrains.

Reported for the first time for the flora of North Macedonia by Teofilovski (2019). The Osogovo nature project maps the second known locality for this species in Osogovo and North Macedonia.

Flowering period:  Spring – early summer: MAY, JUN.
