Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Fernandes in Tutin et al. (1968) as Lavatera thuringiaca L. subsp. thuringiaca and Micevski in Miceski (1998) as Lavatera thuringiaca var. villosa Griseb. The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (Valdés & Raab-Straube, 2011+) is Malva thuringiaca (L.) Vis. subsp. thuringiaca.
Lifeform: Perennial; hemicrerophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native from Europe to Central Siberia and Iran according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Ruderal habitats – disturbed ground.
