Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Moore, Tutin and Walters (1976 in Tutin et al.) and Feráková and Sell (1976 in Tutin et al.) as Steptorhamphus tuberosus (Jacq.) Grossh. The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase is Lactuca tuberosa Jacq.

Lifeform: Perennial plant. Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from the East Mediterranean region to Ukraine, Iran and Oman according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Hill pastures, clearings of oak forests.

Flowering period:  Summer (JUN).
