Taxonomy: Fam. Dipsacaceae// Genus: Lomelosia// Species: Lomelosia argentea (L.) Greuter & Burdet.

Determined as Scabiosa argentea L., Sp. Pl. 100 (1753) according to the botanical key provided in Jasiewicz in Tutin et al.(1976). This accepted name in The Euro+Med Plant Base (Domina, 2017+) is Lomelosia argentea (L.) Greuter & Burdet in Willdenowia 15: 73. 1985.

Lifeform: Perrenial, hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiaer system.

Distribution: Native from Italy to South European Russia and Iran, Northwest Africa according to The Euro+Med Plantbase (source: Domina, 2017+) and the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Hill pastures, shrublands, clearings of oak forests.

Flowering period: Late spring – fall: MAY, JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP, OCT.
