Distribution: Native from the Balkan Peninsula and Romania to Turkey according to the Euro+Med Database (World Checklist of Selected Plant Families, 2010) and the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Found in open habitats from the foot up to mid-altitudes – grasslands, pastures, rocky terrains, sparse shrublands, edges and clearings of oak forests.
Flowering period: Late winter – early spring: FEB, MAR.
