Determined according to the botanical key provided by Richardson (1980 in Tutin et al.) as Gagea saxatilis (Mert. & Koch) Schultes & Schultes fil. (G. bohemica subsp. saxatilis (Mert. & Koch) Pascher). In The Euro+Med PlantBase (Raab-Straube, Peruzzi & Tison, 2022+), this taxon is considered a synonym of Gagea bohemica (Zauschn.) Schult. & Schult. f. 

Lifeform: Perennial plant. Geophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Habitat:  Found in dry rocky habitats- river gorges, rocky hills, on rock cliffs and cracks with shallow soil.

Distribution: Native from West and Central Europe to the Mediterranean according to the Plants of the World Online portal.

Flowering period: Late winter to early spring (FEB, MAR).
