Taxonomy: Fam. Caryophyllaceae// Genus: Stellaria// Species: Stellaria media (L.) Cirillo
Determined as Stellaria media (L.) Vill according to the botanical keys provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Micevski, 1993) and Flora Europaea Vol. 1 (Tutin et al., 1964). The accepted name in the Euro+Med PlantBase is Stellaria media (L.) Cirillo.
Habitat: A very common and widespread spring plant found in moist places and on disturbed ground- near roads, orchards, arable land, near and in settlements, urban areas, gardens.
Distribution: Native to Temperate Eurasia, North and Northeast Tropical Africa. Introduced elsewhere (Plants of the World Online portal).
Lifeform: Annual, therophyte according to the Raunkiaer system.
Flowering period: Early spring – early summer (MAR, APR, MAY, JUN).
