Taxonomy: Fam. Caryophyllaceae// Genus: Moenchia// Species: Moenchia graeca Boiss. & Heldr.

Determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Micevski, 1993).

Habitat: Dry grassland and sparse bushland formations of the Querco-carpinetum orientalis macedonicum community, on rocks and rocky terrains with shallow soil. Found in the Gorge of “Kochanska” River.

Distribution: Native to  the Balkan peninsula and Turkey according to the Euro+Med PlantBase (Marhold, 2011).

Lifeform: Annual, therophyte according to the Raunkiaer system.

Flowering period: Spring (APR).
