Lifeform: Evergreen tree; Phanerophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to Europe, Asia and part of Nort America (New York) according to the according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew). Native to the flora of North Macedonia. Not native – introduced and naturalized in the Osogovo Region, used for forestation.

Habitat: Pine plantations; also occurs sporadically as naturalized throughout the region.

Flowering period: Spring – early summer:  MAY, JUN.
