Lifeform: Tree; Phanerophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: The native range of this species is Europe to Western Asia and Afghanistan, North Africa according to the Plants of the World Online portal, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Habitat: Found in woodland and shrubland. Sweet cherry cultivars which belong within the same species are frequently grown for fruit.
Flowering period: Spring (APR, MAY).
