Distribution: Native to Northwest Africa, Europe and Asia (to Southwest Siberia and West Himalaya) according to the Plants of the World Online portal.

Habitat: Open habitats – dry grasslands/ hill pastures and on disturbed ground.

Flowering period: Spring: MAR, APR, MAY.
