Taxonomy: Fam. Fabaceae// Genus: Medicago // Medicago minima (L.) L.

Determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Micevski, 2001) as Medicago minima (L.) Bartal. (nomencl. ref.: Cat. Piante Sienna 61, 1776). The accepted name in The Euro+MedPlantBase (Source: ILDIS World Database of Legumes, 2010) is Medicago minima (L.) L. (nomencl. ref.: Fl. Angl.: 21. 1754).

Lifeform: Annual; Therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Temperate Eurasia to India, Macaronesia, North and Northeast Tropical Africa to Southwest Arabian Peninsula according to the Plants of the World Online portal.

Habitat:  Found in open dry habitats – grassland, rocky terrains.

Flowering period:  Spring.
