Determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Micevski and Matevski, 2005) as Comandra elegans (Rochel ex Reichenb.) Reichenb., nomencl. ref. Icon. Fl. Germ. 11: 11 (1849). In The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Uotila, 2011) this taxon is considered a subspecies of Comandra umbellata (L.) Nutt. and accepted at the subspecies rank: Comandra umbellata subsp. elegans (Spreng.) Piehl.
Lifeform: Perrenial; Chamaephyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native to the Balkan Peninsula, Romania and Turkey (Turkey in Europe and Asiatic Turkey) according to the distribution information provided by The Euro+Med PlantBase (Source: Uotila, 2011).
Habitat: Clearings and edges of oak forests.
Flowering period: Spring: MAY.
