Determined according to the botanical key provided by McNeill in Tutin et al. (1968) and Micevski in Micevski (2005) as Polygala oxyptera Reichenb., Iconogr. Bot. Pl. Crit. 1: 25 (1823). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Raab-Straube, 2018+) is Polygala vulgaris subsp. oxyptera (Rchb.) Schübl. & G. Martens, Fl. Würtemberg: 455. 1834.

Lifeform: Perennial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to Europe according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) and The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Raab-Straube, 2018+).

Habitat:  Edges and clearings of oak forests.

Flowering period:  Late spring – early summer: MAY, JUN.
