Bot. Pl. Crit. 1: 25 (1823). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Raab-Straube, 2018+) is Polygala vulgaris subsp. oxyptera (Rchb.) Schübl. & G. Martens, Fl. Würtemberg: 455. 1834.
Lifeform: Perennial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Habitat: Edges and clearings of forests.
