Determined according to the botanical key provided by Micevski (1995) and Walters (1964 in Tutin et al.).

Lifeform: Annual plant. Therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to Macaronesia, Tropical Africa, Mediterranean to Pakistan and Arabian Peninsula according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  A ruderal plant- common and widespread weed on sandy soil and disturbed ground- in and near cultivated land, alongside roads, urban and suburban areas.

Flowering period: Summer to fall (JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP).
