Lifeform: Perrenial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Europe to West Siberia, Transcaucasia, Tukey and Syria; Morocco, Canary Islands, Island according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Grassland, woods, moist places, disturbed ground.

Flowering period: Main flowering period is spring (APR, MAY); may bloom year round.
