Distribution: Native from Europe to Siberia and Iran, Macaronesia to Northwest Africa according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Grassland, shrubland, clearings of forests, rocky terrains, also found on disturbed ground.
Flowering period: Spring – summer (MAR, APR, MAY, JUN).
