Lifeform: Annual (therophyte according to the Raunkiær system) or biennial.

Distribution: Native from Europe to Central Asia and Iran, Egypt according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Grassland, clearings and edges of forests, rocky terrains, alongside roads.

Flowering period: Late winter – spring (FEB, MAR, APR, MAY).
