According to literature data by Micevski in Micevski (1995) and Robson in Tutin et al. (1968), the sepals are without or with 1 – 2 black dots (glands). This trait seems to be of variable expression in the Osogovo region.

Lifeform: Perennial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Europe to Caucasus, Mediterranean to Iran according to the distribution information by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Wet habitats- on the banks of rivers, streams and other wet/ damp places.

Flowering period: Summer: JUL, AUG.
