Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Ball (1972 in Tutin et al.) as Stachys cassia (Boiss.) Boiss and Matevski (2021) as Stachys cretica subsp. cassia (Boiss.) Rech.f. In The Euro+Med PlantBase (Source: World Checklist of Selected Plant Families, 2010) the taxon is accepted at the subspecies level.

Lifeform: Perennial plant. Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiaer system.

Distribution: Native from the Balkan Peninsula to Türkiye according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Open habitats – hill pastures.

Flowering period: Summer: JUN, JUL.
