Distribution: Native from Europe to the Mediterranean and Caucasus according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Edges of woods and forest in the oak and European beech forest zones, rocky terrains, disturbed ground. Recorded from the lowland up to c. 1600 m a.s.l.
