Rubus ulmifolius Schott (syn. Rubus discolor Weihe & Nees)

Taxonomy: Fam.Rosaceae// Genus: Rubus// Species: Rubus ulmifolius Schott

The species was determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of Republic of Macedonia (Micevski, 1998) as Rubus discolor Weihe & Nees. In the Euro+Med Plantbase (source: Kurtto & Weber, 2009) this taxon is considered a synonym of Rubus ulmifolius Schott.

Lifeform: Perennial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Habitat: Found in the belt of mixed oak forests, European beech forests, in riparian and wet zones (near rivers and streams).

Distribution: Native from West Europe to Ukraine and the Mediterranean according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal – Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Habitat: Edges and clearings of oak and European forests, European beech forests, near rivers and streams.

Flowering period:  Summer: JUN, JUL, AUG.
