Vinca major L. subsp. major

Taxonomy: Fam. Apocynaceae// Genus: Vinca// Species: Vinca major L.// Subspecies: Vinca major L. subsp. major.

Determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Matevski, 2010).

Distribution: Native from South Europe to Caucasus according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Lifeform:  Perennial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Habitat: Near settlements, orchards, ruderal areas, disturbed ground, roadsides. Cultivated as ornamental.

Flowering period:  Spring: APR, MAY.
