Distribution: Native from South Europe to Turkey according to the Plants of the World online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Oak and European beech forests, grasslands and pastures from the lowland up to the subalpine belt.

Flowering period: Spring: MAR, APR, MAY.
