Taxonomy: Fam. Compositae// Genus: Scorzoneroides// Species: Scorzoneroides cichoriacea (Ten.) Greuter.

Determined according to the botanical key provided by Finch & Sell (1976 in Tutin et al.) as Leontodon cichoriaceus (Ten.) Sanguinetti., Cent. Prodr. Fl. Rom. 111. (1837). The accepted name In The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Greuter, 2006+) is Scorzoneroides cichoriacea (Ten.) Greuter, in Willdenowia 36: 690. 2006.

Lifeform: Perennial plant. Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Italy to Balkan Peninsula; Northwest Africa according to the distribution information provided by The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Greuter, 2006+) and the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Pastures, clearing and edges of oak and Euopean beech forests, from c. 700 to 1500 m a.s.l.

Flowering period: Spring (APR, MAY).
