Determined according to the botanical key provided by Mathew (1980 in Tutin et al.).

Lifeform: Perennial plant. Geophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to the Balkan Peninsula according to The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: World Checklist of Selected Plant Families 2010) and the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).  Balkan endemic.

Habitat:  Found in high altitude rocky terrains, subalpine pastures, European beech forests.

Flowering period: Spring (APR, MAY).
