Lifeform: Perrenial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to Europe – parts of Central and East Europe to South and Southeast Europe according to the distribution information provided by The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: ILDIS World Database of Legumes, 2010). Also native to Turkey and Syria according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens Kew).

Habitat: Clearings and edges of forests.
