Lifeform: Tree; Phanerophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native from Southeast Europe to Central Asia and Himalaya according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Sparse woods, edges and clearings of mixed oak and European beech forests from the lowland to the subalpine belt at c. 1600 m altitude, river gorges, near settlements, roadsides.
Flowering period: Spring: MAR, APR, MAY, depending on altitude.
